In BKFC action from Manchester, England, Olympic gold medal winner and former two-time professional super middleweight champion James DeGale won his bare knuckles debut, squaring-off against Australia's Matt Floyd. After five rounds, the judges scored it for DeGale by tallies of 48-43 (twice) and 47-44. Floyd was penalized three points and DeGale one point. DeGale's speech seemed slurred afterwards.
DeGale, a London-based middleweight said in his post-fight interview that he’s excited to climb the ranks with BKFC, the world’s fastest growing combat sports promotion: “This is crazy stuff! But do you know what? I’m 1-0 in bare knuckle and I’m just getting started! This is the second coming of ‘JD!’”
