James DeGale wins bare knuckles debut

In BKFC action from Manchester, England, Olympic gold medal winner and former two-time professional super middleweight champion James DeGale won his bare knuckles debut, squaring-off against Australia's Matt Floyd. After five rounds, the judges scored it for DeGale by tallies of 48-43 (twice) and 47-44. Floyd was penalized three points and DeGale one point. DeGale's speech seemed slurred afterwards.

But do you know what? I’m 1-0 in bare knuckle and I’m just getting started! This is the second coming of ‘JD!’”

Floyd, who hails from Perth, Australia, was also making his BKFC debut. He entered fight night with a professional gloved boxing record of 15-2.

The other previous Olympians to compete with BKFC are Alfredo Angulo, Rick Hawn, Nico Hernandez, Hector Lombard and Yoel Romero.
