Curtis Stevens also in for tough test on March 22nd
Press Release: Promoter Lou DiBella announced the three headlining events for the March 22, 2007 installment of his Broadway Boxing series, and he is putting his Chin Checkers in very tough fights for the club show level. On a conference call today, DiBella said, “it’s a terrific show, in the big room (New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom) because it deserves to be in the big room. There are great young fighters on the card (Salita, Codrington, Stevens and Francisco Figueroa). Because there will be two TV shows [created from the live event], there are very strong fights on this card. These are real fights and terrific match-ups. Curtis Stevens (16-1 with 12 KOs) is in a really good fight against Darnell Boone (14-8-2 with 5 KOs). [Boone is coming off a victory over DKP prospect James Johnson]. Jaidon Codrington (14-1 with 11 KOs) will be fighting Marlon Hayes (23-5 with 11 KOs) from Newark, New Jersey. He’s also on a win streak [Hayes just beat ex-world titlist William Guthrie in a twelve-round regional cruiserweight bout]. Those bouts could be ESPN main events. In main event, Dmitriy Salita (26-0-1 with 15 KOs) will be fighting Grover Wiley (30-8-1 with 14 KOs) from Omaha, and he is best known for retiring Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. Once again I am proud to present Dmitriy in a main event. Broadway Boxing has become his home base. It’s another step toward a major fight, a title fight, hopefully on HBO or Showtime.” Figueroa's opponent has not been announced yet.
