File this under ten years too late
The Associated Press reports that 42-year-old Julio Cesar Chavez will take on Ivan Robinson in a ten-round junior welterweight fight May 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Although its being billed as a farewell fight, promoter Bob Arum seemed to leave the door
open for more Chavez fights, saying it will be his last bout ``...at least in Los Angeles.'' Arum said he will pay Chavez, 106-5-2, a purse of $200,000, with Robinson to earn $60,000, Arum said. Robinson, 39-9-2, is not much of a puncher but he boxed his way to two wins over Arturo Gatti in 1998.
