State 122-pound title to be decided

Press Release: Popular Chicago super bantamweights Francisco “El Nino Azteca” Rodriguez and Ivan “The Baby Faced Assassin” Rodriguez [Editor's note: don't we already have enough boxers nicknamed "Baby Faced Assassin"?] will square off in a Mexican vs. Puerto Rican cross town showdown for the Illinois State 122-pound title on Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Congress Theater, it was announced today by Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions.   Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the 8 Count Productions office at 312-226-5800. Said Pesoli, “This fight exemplifies Chicago boxing in which both guys truly are fighting for their ethnic pride. Both Francisco and Ivan have a huge fan base and to their credit and respect of the fans they jumped at the opportunity to fight each other." The 23 year old Francisco, 9-1 (6 KOs) is coming off a terrific win over Alejandro Garcia on July 13th at the Congress Theater.  Ivan, 26 years old, brings a record of 8-3-1 (3 KOs) into the battle with Francisco.
