Moses Itauma KO1 Dillian Whyte... Heavyweight Moses Itauma, still only twenty years old, graduated from prospect to heavyweight contender with a one-round destruction of Dillian Whyte in Saudi Arabia. Itauma's fast and heavy punches were too much for Whyte's legs to withstand, and the immobile Whyte was knocked off balance several times. Whyte was soon on the canvas, and although his head seemed clear, he staggered as he got back up, and the referee ended things. Whyte complained the stoppage was premature, but the result was inevitable. Itauma is now 13-0, and as the WBO #1 contender, he could be headed for a showdown vs. Joseph Parker, the WBO interim champion. At 31-4 and age 37, Whyte is headed towards the end of his career, and Itauma joins Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Alexander Povetkin on the impressive short list of Whyte conquerors.
Itauma's promoter Frank Warren was deservedly effusive in his praise afterwards, "Moses Itauma is the real deal. We all just witnessed something special."
