Inside Camp Judah

"...from 54 down, I’ll take any body..."

Boxingtalk’s Nigel Clarke recently caught up with Zab “Super” Judah to get a preview of what’s in store for 2005. The Judah camp is eagerly anticipating the upcoming fight with undisputed welterweight champion Cory Spinks. Zab is in terrific fighting condition and looks like he’s ready to make a statement to the boxing community. See for yourself and check out what he had to say.

Clarke: What’s your relationship with Cory right now?

Zab: What’s my relationship with him? He’s a fighter, he’s the undisputed champ of the world, you know what I’m sayin, that’s it.

Clarke: What was the beef with him not wanting to fight at Madison Square Garden? What was that about?

Zab: I don’t know, I don’t blame him…you know what I’m sayin. That’s his metaphor right there, he don’t want to come to the Garden. I think it would be a great show for both of us. If we come to the garden we can make a lot of noise with a sell out crowd. You know what I’m sayin, we could look for A PPV event at the garden, but you know, the fight is being played somewhere else and that’s what he wants to do.

Clarke: Your last fight with him, you had a problem making weight, how are you this fight?

Zab: This fight I am solid…ya know what I’m sayin. I made my weight excellent this time. You know what I’m sayin? I’m over coming down, I’m feeling stronger, I’m saturated at this weight right now, I think the second fight, like the world is anticipating, is going to be a better and dynamic fight!

Clarke: You have any message you want to send to Cory?

Zab: I ain’t got no hard feelings against Corey, he is the undisputed champ of the world, he has something that I want, and I’m just coming for it, you know what I’m sayin. I wish him and his family well, but the dog is back, that’s it.  (Background: Waste him baby!)

Clarke: If you beat Cory, who do you want to fight next?

Zab: Oscar DeLa Hoya, know what I’m sayin…and the reason why I want to fight De La Hoya is because in this time and era , as a fighter, right now DL is the man to beat, know what I’m sayin, such as any  solid middle weight out there, Bernard Hopkins is the solid fighter to beat. And at heavyweight Lennox Lewis is the fighter to beat, you know. I’m finally getting the opportunity of having a mega fight in my weight class and in my division, I’m hoping to go in there, you know what I’m saying, and dethrone Cory Spinks and hopefully down the line Oscar De La Hoya is looking to step in there and let’s tie it up.

Zab: The best of the best, know what I’m saying, step your weight up and lets get it on. Any 54 pounder thinks they’re best…step it up, lose some weight and let’s get it on. You know what I’m sayin, from 54 down, I’ll take any body, I’m P4P the best in the world right now trust me, I’m back on top, and every fighter in the world knows, when Zab Judah is at his best, can’t no body beat him!
