Injuries force DiBella to cancel October 20 Broadway Boxing!

DiBella Entertainment announced today that the October 20th Broadway Boxing Presented by StubHub card at the Grand Ballroom at Manhattan Center has been cancelled due to injuries to a number of the participants.

Robert Kamya, who was scheduled to face James “Buddy” McGirt Jr., suffered a jaw injury. Noriko Kariya, slated to fight Elisha Olivas injured her wrist, and Darling Jiminez has a back injury. Eric Kirkland’s manager/trainer Dwight Yarde fell ill while in England. Kirkland was matched against Robert Hawkins.

“This is the first time we have rescheduled a Broadway Boxing, but we have never seen such a rash of injuries,” said DBE president Lou DiBella. “Our thoughts are with Dwight Yarde, and we hope he recovers quickly.”

The next Broadway Boxing Presented by StubHub card is slated for Wednesday night, November 15th at the Grand Ballroom at Manhattan Center with Spanish Harlem’s Edgar Santana in the main event, and a co-featured rematch of Curtis Stevens vs. Marcos Primera. Stevens’ fellow “Chin Checker” Jaidon Codrington will also appear along with Noirko Kariya, Prenice Brewer and Willie Nelson.

Due to the October cancellation, another 2006 Broadway Boxing has been added to conclude the season. Broadway Boxing will literally “Deck the Halls” and ring in the holiday season on December 14th, with bouts to be announced shortly.
