A very interesting December 7th welterweight fight between Souleymane Cissokho and Egidijus Kavaliauskas has been postponed after Cissokho injured one of his hands in sparring. Boxium Promotions announced that the fight, which would have been a WBC eliminator, to be held in Malabo in Equatorial Guinea, will be postponed until further notice. In a statement, the promotional company said: “Following medical advice, it was determined that Souleymane is unable to compete at his best level. The health and safety of our athletes remains our top priority. We wish Souleymane a speedy recovery and will soon announce a new date for the fight.” Cissokho won an Olympic gold medal for France in 2016. Kavaliauskas, age 36, is best known for giving a tough fight to multi-division champion Terence Crawford.
