Indiana welter title up for grabs in February

Press Release: Boxing returns to the Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville, Indiana, on February 9, 2007 when Octavius James/ One In A Million Inc. presents “Slug Fest 2007.”   In the main event, Ruben “The Modern Day Warrior” Galvan (27-10-2, 10 KOs) faces  Jermaine “Too Sweet” White (14-2, 7 KOs) for the state welterweight championship. “This for bragging rights,” said Octavius James.  “Galvan and White may be friendly outside of the ring, but when the bell sounds, this will be a real war. The region hasn’t seen a cross-town rivalry in the region like this since 1985 when Mike ‘The Choir Boy’ Landini fought Carlos ‘The Force’ Tite.” In the cofeature, “Merciless” Mary McGee (7-0, 4 KOs) returns to the ring after being bitterly disappointed on November 18th when her bout against Rita Figeuroa was stopped in the fourth round due to an accidental clash of heads.  “Our fans are anxiously waiting for that rematch,” James said.  “I’m looking for a female junior welterweight who’s willing to get in the ring with Mary.” In another clash, Derrick “Superman” Findley (6-2, 5 KOs) faces Juan “Mexican Connection” Aguilar (6-1, 3 KOs) at super middle.  Tickets are available from Star Plaza Theatre box office at (219-769-6600) or from any Ticket Master location.
