PPV Carrier Claims “Mayweather Stopped all 38 Opponents”
The In Demand preview show for the highly anticipated undisputed welterweight championship bout between Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton is misleading the public. The In Demand Mayweather-Hatton preview show, not to be confused with the popular HBO 24/7 series, claims that "Mayweather stopped all 38 opponents.” In boxing and all combat sports, the term “stopped” means that the opponent was knocked out, technically knocked out, retired, quit or simply was not able to finish the fight within the given frame of time or rounds. In fact, Floyd Mayweather has only stopped 24 of the 38 opponents he has faced. Although that is nothing to sneeze at, it is certainly not anywhere near a 100% knockout ratio. In fact, Floyds last 3 fights were won by decision, a unanimous decision over Zab Judah, a unanimous decision over Carlos Baldomir and a split decision over Oscar De La Hoya. Although Floyd is a solid puncher, the P4P #1 fighter in the world is more known for his boxing skills and fluidity than his devastating power which the In Demand preview show tries to imply. Whether In Demand intentionally tried to mislead the fans or they simply have no clue what they are doing, either way it is not a minor miscalculation.
