Ikeke-Abraham set for December 10!

PRESS RELEASE: He’s waited patiently for his time to shine, all the while beating whoever was put in front of him as contender and contender avoided him.  But on Saturday, December 10th, the waiting is over for Kingsley Ikeke, as he finally gets his shot at the world middleweight title when he faces unbeaten Arthur Abraham for the vacant IBF championship at the Arena Leipzig in Leipzig, Germany.

“My time has come,” said Ikeke.  “The wait was long but now I’m ready to make the most of this opportunity.  I will be a world champion on December 10th.”

“Kingsley Ikeke is one of the premier middleweights in the world, and on December 10th he will show the world all his talents,” said Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya.  “Arthur Abraham is a tough opponent, but we’re looking forward to bringing Kingsley home with a championship belt around his waist.”

A native of Benin City, Nigeria, Kingsley Ikeke has taken on and beaten all comers over the course of his ten-year professional career, winning NABF, NABO and NABA middleweight titles in the process. 23-1 with 13 KOs, the imposing 6-4 “King” left an emphatic message for the 160-pound division on April 15, 2005, when he earned his title shot with a dominating 10th round stoppage of former title challenger Antwun Echols.

Ikeke’s opponent, Arthur Abraham, has impressed boxing fans with his rapid rise up the ranks.  Unbeaten in 18 fights (with 16 KOs), the Germany-based Armenian scored the most impressive victory of his young career in July, when he outpointed recent title challenger Howard Eastman over 12 rounds in Nurnberg, Germany.
