On August 18, 2026, the IBF ordered Martina Righi and Taylah Gentzen to begin negotiations for the IBF interim junior lightweight title. An agreement was not be reached within the timeframe set forth by the IBF, so the IBF has scheduled a purse bid for October 1st. Righi, from Italy is 8-3-1 and the reigning European champion. Gentzen, from Australia is 9-2, and earlier this year lost a lightweight world title challenge to Elif Nur Turhan by split decision. She's had one win since then. The IBF has set up the interim title fight because Alycia Baumgardner will test the waters at lightweight by challenging Nur Turhan in November.
