After two postponements, the IBF has cancelled today's purse bid for a heavyweight elimination bout between Agit Kabayel and Martin Bakole. No reason was given for the cancellation, but it appears the fight will not happen, as per a tweet from Billy Nelson, Bakole's trainer. Nelson tweeted, "Unfortunately I’m hearing Kabayal will be [joining] the long line of top fighters who don’t want to fight Martin, real shame has it would have been a good fight."
On October 10th, the IBF ordered heavyweights Kabayel and Bakole to begin negotiations for an IBF final eliminator (and the IBF #1 ranking). Negotiations were to be concluded on or before October 23rd. An agreement could not be made within the time frame allowed, so the IBF initially ordered a purse bid for Tuesday, November 5th at 12 noon. That date was later changed to November 7th and then to November 14th. Bakole is coming off a big win over Jared Anderson, while Kabayel's last fight was a win over Frank Sanchez. Both Anderson and Sanchez were previously undefeated.
