Hugo Cazares takes Nelson Dieppa's title

The 108-pound division continued to get a shake-up on Saturday night as Mexican Hugo Cazares traveled to Puerto Rico and won the WBO title in that weight class by technical decision from Nelson Dieppa.  The bout was stopped during the tenth round due to multiple cuts sustained by Dieppa and Cazares was awarded the titles by scores of 96-94 (twice) and 98-92.  Dieppa was cut by an accidental headbutt in the sixth round. Cazares (rated #13 by Boxingtalk) became the second new 108-pound titlist this weekend, as Roberto Vasquez captured the vacant WBA version of the title in Panama. He improves to 20-3-1 while Dieppa (Boxingtalk #2) drops to 22-2-2. On the same show in San Juan, Ivan Calderon (Boxingtalk #2) defended his WBO strawweight title with an eight round stoppage of Noel Tunacao. Calderon is now 22-0. source: Associated Press
