Filip Hrgovic W10 David Adeleye... In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Filip Hrgovic fought through a terrible cut on his right eyelid and defeated David Adeleye by wide decision. A jab from Adeleye in round two busted open Hrgovic's eyelid but did not dampen his spirit. Hrgovic's corner did a phenomenal job stopping the bleeding and Hrgovic won every round other than the second with a superior work rate. In the middle rounds, Adeleye seemed to get discouraged, not really knowing what to do except stick his toungue out every time Hrgovic nailed him. In round eight things got really exciting. Hrgovic scored a knockdown but Adeleye got up and threw caution to the wind. Adeleye's bombs away approach made round eight one of the year's best. Adeleye staggered Hrgovic but the Croatian weathered the storm. The final two rounds followed the pattern of the middle ones: Hrgovic controlled the action and landed the majority of punches while Adeleye unsuccessfully headhunted for one big punch. The verdict was not in doubt, as the scorecards favored Hrgovic by 98-91 and 999-90 (twice). From the DAZN telecast, it looked like trainer Abel Sanchez was the one who expertly tended to Hrgovic's cut. Hrgovic showed excellent stamina throughout the ten rounds, and Sanchez certainly derserves credit for that.
