It was a messy bout with plenty of stalling from both men, but the previously untested McKean was unable to recover once Hrgivic landed. The referee had a look at a staggering McKean and made the call to halt matters. The Croatian Hrgovic remains the IBF mandatory contender, in line to face the winner of three-belt champion Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois later this month. Hrgovic's record is listed as 16-0 but professional bouts in the World Series of Boxing put his true record more accurately at 42-4.
