Hopkins to be honored in hometown tomorrow!

Press Release: In his hometown of Philadelphia tomorrow, newly minted world light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins will be honored by Mayor John F. Street and the City of Philadelphia itself for his legendary career and victory Saturday night in Atlantic City over Antonio Tarver.  Hopkins will receive a proclamation from the Mayor and be named a Community Engagement Ambassador for Peace.  Also, Governor Rendell, who made a congratulatory phone call to Hopkins on Sunday has been invited to attend.   Hopkins so far is maintaining that he is retired, although it is not too hard to imagine the 41-year old giving Roy Jones a shot at his title in the fall should Jones win his comeback fight against Badi Ajamu.
