As Boxingtalk.com first reported yesterday, Golden Boy Promotions and DiBella Entertainment are inching closer towards finalizing a deal that would pit undisputed middleweight king Bernard Hopkins against undefeated heir apparent Jermain Taylor. Sources from HBO have informed Boxingtalk that should Golden Boy and DiBella finalize the deal, Hopkins-Taylor would take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on a July 16 HBO PPV. July 23 could also be a possibility for Hopkins-Taylor, but word is that's a date HBO has pencilled in for Glen Johnson-Antonio Tarver II.
