Holt beats Lowry by technical decision

Chris Holt successfully made the first defense of the Minnesota middleweight title by edging out the very game Troy "TNT" Lowry Saturday night at the River Centre in Saint Paul, MN. The fight ended when Holt opened a large cut over the left eye of Lowry with an accidental head butt. Blood immediately started flowing down Lowry's face and into his eye of, so the fight was stopped by the ringside physician seconds later. The corner for Lowry was outraged by the stoppage. "The cut was bad but we could've stopped the bleeding" said trainer Ron Peterson. Holt was ahead 49-47 and 49-46 on two judges cards but the other judge had Lowry ahead 48-47. The bad breaks continue for Lowry who lost a very controversial decision to Matt Vanda just a month ago. Chris Holt improves to 12-4 (8 KO's) while Troy Lowry falls to 26-5 (16 KO's).
