Hearn: Usyk-Joyce likely headed to purse bid

Promoter Eddie Hearn (pictured) told Sky Sports that a heavyweight clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Joe Joyce is likely headed to a purse bid. Usyk  is the former undisputed world cruiserweight champion and current WBO mandatory contender. Usyk is co-promoted by Hearn. while Joyce is promoted by Hearn's British rival Frank Warren. It is expected that Usyk-Joyce will be sanctioned for a WBO interim championship with the winner in line to challenge the winner of Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury (a world championship unification fight that has not yet been finalized). Hean said, "I believe that fight will go to purse bids in a couple of weeks. Certainly we will be bidding for that fight." The Ukrainian defeated Derek Chisora in October.
