Reliable sources have informed Boxingtalk.com that Ricky Hatton will vacate his WBA welterweight title in favor of a move back down to junior welterweight to reclaim his IBF title currently held by Juan Urango. When Hatton moved up to welterweight, Urango won the vacant title via controversial decision over Ben Rabah. Hatton had a mis-mandatory with Oktay Urkal due but obviously would prefer to move back down to his more natural weight. Hatton's promoter Artie Pelullo was unavailable for immediate comment. Hatton was originally slated to fight on HBO Dec. 2, but as reported exclusively by Boxingtalk, Winky Wright now holds that date and undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor will be fightin in Little Rock on December 9 therefore December 16 appears to be the earliest we should expect a Hatton-Urango bout to take place.
