Devin Haney W12 Juan Carlos Ramirez,... Devin Haney took care of business in New York City's Times Square, but it wasn't pretty to watch. A former two-division champion, Haney looked tentative and cautious against Juan Carlos Ramirez, but came away with a wide unanimous decision. Punchstat counted just 70 punches landed by Haney (32-0) over the twelve-round distance, with Ramirez landing a paltry 40. The judges scored it 119-109 (twice) and 118-108. Although technically undefeated, Haney had not fought since he absorbed a bad beating from Ryan Garcia last year. Because Garcia had illegal performance-enhancing substances in his system, a loss for Haney was changed to a no contest. The backstory certainly explained Haney's hesitant performance, but if a rematch between Haney and Garcia takes place later this year as planned, Garcia would almost certainly be a heavy favorite (pending his performance in the main event). This fight was fought at a catchweight in between welterweght and junior welterweight, with Garcia-Haney II likely to be at welterweight. Ramirez, a former two-belt junior welterweight champion, falls to 29-3.
