HBO Announcer arrested

There are conflicting reports on the net, but it seems clear that HBO play-by-play man Jim Lampley, certainly the best boxing announcer of his generation and one of the best all time, has been arrested in connection with domestic violence charges. Lampley has since posted bail and been released. The notoriously unreliable Page Six of the New York Post claims Lampley "beat up his girlfriend," and it appears from TMZ that Lampley was at his girlfriend's house when he was arrested for violating a restraining order and also on charges of domestic abuse. Lampley, who is divorced, has been behind the mic for some of the most unforgettable moments in boxing history, including Buster Douglas' upset of Mike Tyson, the bizarre fan man incident during Riddick Bowe-Evander Holyfield II, an on-air riot during Andrew Golota-Riddick Bowe I, and all seven of the Arturo Gatti-Mickey Ward and Marco Antonio Barrera-Erik Morales wars.
