In October 2020, New Jersey promoter Greg Cohen sued Ring City and four of its executives for $50 million, saying he had an oral agreement to be a partner in the broadcast platform. Ring City had a critically acclaimed run of competitive boxing fights, but its momentum has slowed as NBC has failed to provide more dates up until now. In November, Cohen's attorney, David Schrader wrote to the court and advised it that a settlement had been reached. Scharder wrote: "We submit this joint letter on behalf of all parties to notify the Court that the parties have reached a confidential settlement of [this] action. The settlement requires the parties to take certain actions on or before December 10, 2021 in order for the settlement to be fully consummated." While terms of the settlement are not likely to be divulged, the attorneys will have to advise the court sometime this month as to whether the lawsuit is at an end.
