Green & Mundine both win in Perth

2006 could be a great year for regional battles. At 160 pounds, the stage was set yesterday for a German super bout between new IBF titlist Arthur Abraham and veteran contender Felix Sturm. Today in Australia, a fans' request at 168 pounds is likely to happen as the nations' two best super middleweights, Anthony Mundine and Danny Green both won bouts on the same show in Green's hometown of Perth.  Mundine beat New Zealand's Rico Chong Nee on a technical knockout in the third round, but he is so unpopular that he was chased from the ring with a shower of plastic bottles. Green defeated Mexican Kirino Garcia in a unanimous points decision after the fight went the full 10 rounds. Mundine and Green are #6 and #7 respectively in the Boxingtalk ratings. source: Australian Broadcasting Company
