Full recovery is expected

A report in the Philippine publication the Sun Star says that 115-pound contender Z Gorres has been diagnosed with a tear in his retina and his planned IBF elimination bout against Gerson Guerrero has been scrapped. That bout was scheduled as a part of Golden Boy's "World Cup of Boxing" event featuring Mexico vs. The Philippines. The good news for Gorres, who lost a WBO title challenge earlier in the year, is that the injury can be surgically repaired and he is expected to make a comeback. -Scott Shaffer
