Its good night Irene in the ninth
Jhonny Gonzalez TKO9 Irene Pacheco... Six months after a failed bid at Israel Vazquez's 122-pound championship, world titlist Jhonny Gonzalez successfully dropped back down to bantamweight and stopped Irene Pacheco in the ninth round. Gonzalez badly hurt Pacheco at the end of the eight and then overwhelmed Pacheco with an extended combination early in the ninth. Some of Pacheco's body blows in the final seconds of the bout may have strayed a little bit low, but Pacheco was clearly dazed from head shots as he fell through the ropes, ending the contest. The win, which came in the Solo Boxeo main event in Tucson Arizona, preserved Gonzalez's WBO bantamweight title. Gonzalez is now 34-5. Pacheco, an IBF flyweight titlist from 1999-2004, is now 33-2, but reports from Colombia say he may have benefitted from a hometown decision in his prior fight, a split decision win over the visiting Leon Moore.  source: solo boxeo on telefutura
