Golden Boy Promotions Signs Xavier James!

Press Release: LOS ANGELES, January 11 – Golden Boy Promotions is wasting no time in getting ready for a stellar 2005 and beyond, as the company is pleased to announce the signing of Xavier D. James Sr. as a Special Advisor for Sports Programming and Strategy. James will perform various advisory functions in connection with the development and acquisition of sports programming for Golden Boy Promotions.

"Xavier has been a friend of mine for many years and I am thrilled to have him join Golden Boy Promotions in an advisory capacity" said Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar de la Hoya. "Xavier's experience in sports programming combined with his knowledge of boxing will certainly assist us in building the Golden Boy brand even further. We already have some exciting plans in the works, which Xavier will concentrate on."

Xavier D. James, Sr. was born and raised in the Bronx, NY.  After graduating with honors with a degree in political science from New York University in 1990 and receiving a law degree from New York University School of Law in 1993, he practiced corporate and securities law in New York at the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP from 1993 to 1996.  In 1996, he served as in-house counsel for Viacom's publishing unit, Simon & Schuster, and went on to serve as in-house counsel for the sports and original programming department of HBO from 1998 to 2000.  From 2001 to 2004, he served as vice-president of sports programming for HBO where he was responsible for the acquisition of boxing programming for such HBO shows as "World Championship Boxing," "Boxing After Dark," "KO Nation," and HBO Latino's "Oscar De La Hoya
Presents Boxeo De Oro." He resides in New York with his wife and three children.
