Former Light Heavyweight Champion Glen Johnson blasted Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins, and Antonio Tarver, calling all three of them cowards, and refers to Roy Jones as an old bum.
Johnson is tired of the big names in the division “ducking” him, and he makes it clear that he's ready to whoop any of the top names in the division.
BT – Glen, what's up?
GJ – Man, I am very upset that the Dolphins lost to Dallas, that's not a good thing. I am in pain right now, but not as much pain as I am about all of these guys ducking me. They know that if they take me on, it's the end of their run.
BT – Glen it's been a few years now, and you still can't get any of these guys to fight you. What do you think you can do about it?
GJ – There's nothing that I can say to them to get them into the ring with me. I can say something about their mothers, I can say something about their sons wife, I can say anything, and they still will duck me like the cowards that they are. They all know that I will whoop all their tails. Roy Jones is now taking on a retired fighter instead of fighting a Glen Johnson. He went all the way to Puerto Rico to dig up a retired washed up guy. If this is what the public is going to pay big money to see, I don't know what to do.
BT – Who do you think wins between Roy Jones and Trinidad?
GJ – Well you have two bums fighting. I think Roy is the better bum of the two, so I will give it to Roy Jones.
BT-Â Do you think if Roy wins, he'll fight you?
GJ – Listen, Roy Jones can't beat a Trinidad and get the confidence he needs to beat me, he knows that. He won't have any of the confidence that he would need to take me on. I will kill all of these so called big names in my sleep if they step up and fight me.
BT – Bernard Hopkins looked good against Winky, what about him?
GJ – Bernard knows that the whooping that I would give him wouldn't be worth the pay that he would get. He decided that he'll wait for the fight in England, and fight the winner of the Calzaghe fight.
BT – Is Tarver on your radar still?
GJ – Tarver doesn't want to fight anybody, every time a name gets thrown at him that's a challenge he runs. Tarver prices himself out of fights, but he's a smart guy, he knows that he'll get his ass kicked if he steps up, so he takes money that the television puts up against guys he knows that he can beat, nobodies. Eventually he will retire, and I'll let all of these suckers retire, and Glen Johnson will still be here cracking the young guns that try to make names for themselves. I will wipe the floor with all of these guys, let these old guys just retire, and I'll still be here.
BT – Do you feel that Antonio Tarver's market has passed him by ?
GJ – All of these guys days are done, Tarver, Jones, all of them. Jones is looking for the weakest guy for the most money, Tarver is looking for the weakest guy for the most money. I am not knocking them for it, I am just telling them to be real about it, don't front. Just as long as everybody knows what they are doing. Don't act like you can beat a Glen Johnson while you're doing this.
BT – What's the latest with Clinton Woods?
GJ – Clinton Woods fights on the 29th, the same night Jermain Taylor is fighting. That fight is happening in England, and whoever the winner is has to fight me within 9 months. I don't see that happening because Clinton Woods knows he can't beat me, so he's not going to want to jump in the ring against me. Julio Gonzalez knows he certainly can't beat me, so he'll go see who he can make the most money for his title. At the end of the 9 months someone is going to have to deal with me though, someone is going to have to fight me. I will then be the champion, and that's when I will take over the weight class.  I am not afraid to fight anyone, and that's the difference between me and the rest of the gang. They pick and choose, the are all on their last legs, they have to pick and choose because they can't clean up the weight class.
BT – If it's Clinton Woods that you fight next, will you lobby to get that fight here in America?
GJ – I would hope so, they mentioned about it happening here in the states. They said that before though, so we'll see. We'll see what they do, but at the end of the day I am confident that I will be champion. The only thing that will stop me is death, or an injury.
BT – Glen, any closing thoughts?
GJ – Yes, we are going to kick in the door in 2008. There is nothing that anyone can do to stop me.
