Giudice to autograph his Duran bio at Philly show

Press Release: The first and definitive biography of Roberto Duran, one of boxing’s all-time greats, will be on sale at the Friday evening, March 2 fight card at the New Alhambra, Swanson & Ritner Streets, next to Forman Mills in South Philadelphia.  Author Christian Giudice will be on hand in the lobby to sign copies of “Hands of Stone, The Life and Legend of Roberto Duran.” Giudice, a freelance sportswriter and a regular contributor to Boxing Digest and other newspapers and boxing websites, interviewed Duran, his family and closest friends for his 384-page biography. A graduate of Temple University with a degree in Journalism, Giudice traces Duran’s career from start of finish—the early fights in Panama, the championship reigns, the tank town tours in the twilight years.  Both the public and the private Duran are depicted in the book—his volatility, his kindness and reckless generosity, his partying, his links with the regime of General Noriega and his chilling love of battle. Topping the eight-bout card March 2 is a 10-round junior welterweight match between Mike Stewart, of New Castle, DE, and Enrique Colin, of Guasave, Mexico. Stewart is 41-5-2, 23 KOs; Colin is 21-3-3, 19 KOs. Univision/Telefutura will televised the Stewart-Colin fight, as well as the semfinal which features unbeaten Olympic bantamweight Abner Mares, of Montebello, CA, as part of its popular Solo Boxeo series. Tickets are on sale at (215-765-0922) and also can be purchased online at www.peltzboxing.com.
