Foxwoods Report
Willie Gibbs TKO12 Lenord Pierre... Willie Gibbs (20-1, 16 KOs) got a very dramatic win on Friday at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut when, trailing on two scorecards, he knocked down Lenord Pierre twice in the final thirty seconds of the twelfth round to win a vacant regional middleweight championship by technical knockout. The bout was stopped with just seven seconds to go. "I was feeling great until I got hit," Pierre told the Hartford Courant. "Then, I don't know what happened. I don't remember nothing." Pierre (18-2-1, 15 KOs) was the much harder puncher, but Gibbs was hitting Pierre frequently, opening a cut over Pierre's left eye in the fifth round. The cut was bad, putting extra pressure on Pierre to knock Gibbs out. "Blood kept coming down. I couldn't see properly," said Pierre to the Hartford paper. source: Hartford Courant
