Guerrero gunning for stoppage: "I'm coming to dominate, not just win!"
GL: How has training camp been and how are you feeling sligtly more than one week removed from your first title defense against Orlando Salido? "Camp's been great. I've done everything I had to do and it's great to be coming right off of a fight to get right back in there. He's a tough guy but I'm ready to go and I really can't wait. The closer it gets the more excited I get."
GL: They say whenever a fighter becomes a champion he becomes 25% better as a fighter. Does that hold true with you?
Robert Guerrero: "It gives you more confidence and it makes you want to work more. Now I'm the target and everyone is shooting for me, but I still shoot for everyone else. I like to stay on my toes and stay on top of things."
GL: The last time most of us saw Orlando Salido was against Juan Manuel Marquez and it wasn't the kind of fight that will ever be confused with Gatti-Ward. Do you plan on pressing the action on November 4 to make sure that doesn't happen again?
RG: "Yeah, I don't want it to be a sparring match, I want to get in there and make it a fight."
GL: What did you think about his fight with Juan Manuel?
RG: "To me it looked like a sparring match. He didn't act like he wanted to win the fight or even win rounds, he basically survived."
GL: Even though Mayweather-Baldomir is the fight of the night are you planning on stealing the show?
RG: "All the time. It's a big platform to be on and showcase my skills on, what place is better than Baldomir-Mayweather."
GL: I know you're taking it one fight at a time, but if things go your way on Novemebr 4 who at 126 do you want to fight the most?
RG: "I want to fight everybody. I want to fight the best there and the best at 130. That's where the best guys are. Manny Pacquiao, Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera. The big names like that are the ones I want to fight with."
GL: In a recent interview your promoter Dan Goossen told me that you were ready to fight the best at 130. I was kind of thinking, he just won his belt at featherweight let him do his thing there for a while before he makes that kind of step up, but obviously you agree with Dan, correct?
RG: "I'm 5'9 and I have a 79-inch ring, I have power and I'm southpaw. God gave me this talent and I'm ready to test it against the best fighters in the world."
GL: Is Salido going the distance?
RG: "Only God knows, but I could tell you one thing, I'm coming to fight.
GL: Only God knows, but do you think he's going the distance?
RG: "Being honest with you I don't think so. The game plan we have set for Salido it's a dominating game plan. We're coming out to dominate, not to win."
