George looks to end year with a bang!

Donovan “Da Bomb” George, the undefeated prospect from Chicago, Illinois is back tonight at the Cicero Stadium in Cicero Illinois. The Windy City Wunderkind will put his undefeated, 10-0 record on the line versus journeyman William Johnson. “Da Bomb” is fighting his 4th bout in 2006 and looking to add his 11th win and to append a 9th knockout to his young resume.

“All I want for Christmas is his (William Johnson) 2 front teeth on the dam canvas. I’m going get my Christmas gift early by getting a 2nd or 3rd round knockout of Mr. Johnson,” George.

This rising Super Middleweight, was last in action on November 2nd. On this night he took out Julio Jean in 5 rounds. George has stopped 3 opponents in a row and has collected 5 knockouts in his last 7 bouts. While others may find it hard to maintain a boxing regimen throughout this festive holiday period, “Da Bomb” insists that for him this is not the case.

“It’s not hard working through the holiday. There are some distractions, but this is not a problem. If I sit around I feel like I’m wasting life, I have to be active,” George.

The cocky 23 year old, who blew out birthday candles a little over a month ago is eager to fight in front of his hometown. George is well aware with the pressure that some fighters face when fighting in their own backyards. Also not to mention the pressure and expectations of accommodating friends and family who come out to see you perform can also be over whelming.

“I have my dad and my brothers who help me with everything. I am lucky that I have such a strong support system around me. I have a strong and supportive family. My job is to stay focused and fight. After the fight, we will celebrate and I’ll thank everybody for coming and seeing my highlight reel knockout,” George.

“I’m super pumped up and I’m super stoked. My energy is through the roof and my excitement level is at an all time high. I am ready to go and can’t wait for Friday. I’m going for the kill. I respect William Johnson for coming into my hometown and fighting me, but coming from St. Louis is a long way to come for a beating,” George.

To hear “Da Bomb” speak you can hear the tone of restlessness in his voice. He almost makes you conjure up images of a Vince McMahon character. Needless to say an interview with the undefeated George is never dull. According to advisor Mike Michael, his fighter’s character and charisma will be the asset that propels him to him super stardom. Michael is emphatic in saying that George is well become a sports legend.

“Da Bomb” is a special fighter and he is a great young man. Da Bomb will be a franchise in Chicago. Right now Chicago does not have a super star and has not since Michael Jordan. Don “Da Bomb” will be as big as Michael Jordan here in Chicago! I know people will read this and think I’m crazy. Some people will even laugh. But I tell you remember, he who laughs last, laughs loudest and best”, Michael.

“I’ve been working out 3 times a day. I go to the boxing gym and work out with my dad (Peter George), who trains me, then I do my regular running or I do speed drills with the football team and then I go to a fitness center and work with a personal trainer. I’ve been using the core ball and doing weight training. I really feel stronger than I’ve felt in the past and it helps me relax”, George.

As promised earlier in the year “Da Bomb” will now focus on making his mark in the Super Middleweight division. At this time this year, George will no longer be a prospect, but a full fledged contender, according to Michael.

“Right now there is no rush. We are going to stick to our plan. Its hard at times because of the talent he has, I have a lot of experience so I know when to pull the reigns in. In 2007 around this time next year we are going to focus on one of the North American belts,” Michael.

“Da Bomb” and Johnson are scheduled to square off for 6 rounds of boxing. If all goes according to schedule for “Da Bomb,” he will be back in action within 6 weeks. This Friday night maybe the last fight that “Da Bomb” fights as a promotional free agent. Cestus Managements brain trust, Michael has informed boxingtalk.com that an announcement concerning “Da Bomb” agreeing to an exclusive promotional contract, will be made public very shortly.
