Former WBA featherweight champion Derrick "Smoke" Gainer has informed Boxingtalk.com that he will be moving up to junior lightweight. Gainer recently suffered a unanimous decision loss to Chris John in Indonesia. Despite losing his last two fights and not having much past success at 130 pounds, Gainer is confident that he will be stronger at junior lightweight because he won't have to "kill himself" to make weight.
