Gabriel Rosado to return to super middleweight on April 9th

Gabriel Rosado (pictured) will face Shane Mosley Jr. (17-4) on April 9th in a super middleweight bout at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Rosado-Mosley will be part of the support show for Ryan Garcia's return to the ring against Emmanuel Tagoe. Also on that show will be a women's flyweight unification bout seeing Japan’s Naoko Fujioka put her WBA belt up against Marlén Esparza, owner of the WBC version.

Rosado, age 36 gained a shock knockout over touted Bektemir Melikuziev las year. In his next fight he moved down a weight class to face Jaime Munguia at middleweight. Rosdao lost that one, and his record is 26-14-1. He  will now return to 168 pounds for this bout.

In front of Rosado will be Mosley, who is coming off a close loss to Jason Quigley in May 2021. At 31 years old, the son of legend Shane Mosley, has proven to be a gritty fighter capable of making a tough outing for anyone.

As for the flyweight unification contest, the Japanese Fujioka (19-2-1) will return to the ring in the United States, the nation where she made her last defense, a win against Sulem Urbina in an entertaining fight in July 2021. It will be the 46-year-old Fujioka's fourth defense of the crown.

Esparza (11-1) is the WBC champion and will be defending her title for the second time. The 32 year-old Houston native has just defeated Anabel Ortiz in her most recent fight. She is a tough fighter who likes to exchange and has good speed.
