Heavyweight contender Monte "Two-Gunz" Barrett has been rated #12 by the WBO. Barrett is hoping to secure an October showdown with David Haye, who has been rumored to be facing Oleg Maskaev. Barett is also extremely interested in a fight with Chris Arreola, whom he frimly believes avoided him earlier this year. "David Haye is running away!, said Barrett. Now I'm ranked and there's no excuse for him to look elsewhere, but these guys keep finding ways to avoid me. I hear Arreola's people are talking about David Tua. Are they serious? When was the last time he was on HBO or Showtime? Arreola avoided me before and I hope he don't avoid me again. Now that he's on my number he can ask guys like Dominick Guinn and Owen Beck what I do to up and comers who are 24-0."

It is with great regret that Derrick "Smoke" Gainer turned down a September 6 bout with Amir Khan. "With Roy fighting on September 20, it would be hard to have our people travel to England and back with Roy winding down his camp for Calzaghe around that time," said Gainer, who will be fighting on the September 20 undercard. "Once I take care of this business on September 20, I'd love to fight him so I hope they offer the fight to me again. Doing it later this year or early next is fine with me." Roy Jones Jr's Square Ring was considering having Khan travel to the States for the fight, but with the ink barely dried on the Calzaghe-Warren divorce, don't expect any Calzaghe-Warren collaborations.

Last Thursday the Nevada Commission reinstated Yoel Judah, who will work his son Zab's corner when Superman challenges the tough as nails Joshua Clottey for the vacant IBF title in Las Vegas on August 2. HBO will televise the bout from the Palms Hotel and Casino.
