WBC junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora (pictured) seems headed for a fan-friendly title defense in October against former unified welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman. According to the WBC, the fight could take place in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Arena, the same venue where Fundora successfuly defended his title by stopping former champion Tim Tszyu this past July. Thurman got his biggest win in 2017 when he defeated Danny Garcia in a WBC/WBA unification bout, winning by split decision. In 2019, Thurman lost to boxing legend Manny Pacquaio and has only fought twice since then: a 2022 win over Mario Barrios who would go on to become a welterweight title holder, and Australia's Brock Jarvis earlier this year.
Fundora holds a record of 23-1-1 with 15 KOs, while Thurman has a record of 31-1 with 23 KOs.
