JB: What's up Francisco? Welcome to Boxingtalk.Bojado: It's good to be here. Thank you for inviting me.
JB: Haven't seen you in a while. What has been going on? Bojado: I have been training with some UFC fighters helping them with their stand-up. I also have been training at Top Rank Gym in Las Vegas for the past couple of weeks. Just getting better as an overall fighter. I've gained a ton of life experience in my time off and im just anxious to get back in the ring.
JB: When will we see you in the ring next? Bojado: Well I can't give you an exact date because all the terms haven't been worked out yet, but if they are, it should be at the end of September.
JB: What UFC stars have you been training with? Bojado: I have been training with Diego Sanchez for the past eight months. I also trained with Renanto Sorbal, Tyrone Spoon.
JB: What division are you coming back at? Bojado: I'll be back at the junior welterweight division. From the champions through the top ten, there is great opposition their. That's the division I want to accomplish my goal of becoming a champion. That's where I want to get into the main events. The welterweight division is also looking good right now. I just can't wait to get back to my office, it's where I belong. I'll fight anyone from 140 to 147.
JB: You had a bit of a verbal feud with Paul Malignaggi a while back. Is that a fight your interested in? Bojado: Sure I would love to get in there and finish what Cotto did. Cotto put a real hurtin' on him. I mean no disrespect to him. He's a good fighter. He's just got a big mouth, and a huge ego. He's just a character, but who am I to judge. If my team decides to put me in with him, sure I would love to put some hands on him. But i'm really not too concerned with Paulie
JB: So why have you been out of the ring so long? Bojado: I've just been working to become an overall better fight. Just trying to perfect it. Right now I'm more humble and hungry than ever. I have been gaining a lot of life experience in and out of the ring and I know it's going to take me to the next level.
JB: I understand you recently met Mike Tyson. What was that like? Bojado: Yea, I met him once before, but I didn't't think he would remember me. But then he was like, what's up little bro. I was really excited he remembered me cause you know he meets a lot of people. He told me he was at two of my fights and wished me good luck. He was real cool.
JB: Do you think the UFC will ever be bigger than boxing? Bojado:Â Well the UFC has gotten real big, real fast, but boxing has been around so much longer. It has a much bigger and longer established fan base. We have a lot more fights year round and there's lots of interesting matchups that can be made. There are just so many different styles that will continue to take boxing to the next level. In my opinion boxing will always have the throne when it comes to combat sports in America. But look who your asking (laughs)
JB: Would you ever compete in a Mixed Martial Arts bout? Bojado: No, boxing is my trade. I've been doing this since I was a young kid. Iv'e learned a lot training in mixed martial arts and I'm excited to showcase all those little tricks in the ring. It has taken my game to a different level. I really respect what those guys do.
JB: So who do you think is the #1 p4p fighter in boxing right now? Bojado: Floyd Mayweather Jr. There's a reason he's undefeated. He's at his peak right now and I don't think anyone can touch him.
JB: So its safe to say your picking Floyd over Baldomir? Bojado: Yea, I got to go with Floyd. Baldomir is a good fighter, but to be honest with you, I think its going to be target practice for Floyd. I think with his speed and accuracy, he's going to hit him with everything he throws. Baldomir needs to just stay on him as much as he can. But I got to go with Floyd for sure.
JB: What about the Big Golden Boy card coming up on September 16? There are three world titles on the line. In the main event it's Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Rocky Juarez. Bojado: It's a real interesting fight. Rocky is always training hard. I know Barrera is going to come in with a different gameplan and be more prepared. I'm not really sure who's going to win, but I guarantee you it's going to be an awesome fight.
JB: Jorge Barrios vs. Juan Guzman?Bojado:Â Barrios. He's a great fighter. He's an accurate puncher with great power.
JB: How bout Israel Vazquez vs. Jhonny Gonzalez Bojado: Israel Vazquez
JB: Ok well it was real chill talkin' with you. Is there anything you would like to say to your fans in closing? Bojado: Well first I want to thank you again for having me on Boxingtalk. Second I want to apologize to my fans for my last performance (Jesse James Leija). I don't have any excuses. I just want to let everyone know it won't happen again. You won't ever see me in the ring again not giving it my all. I'm really excited to be back, and your going to see me at full capacity as a fighter. From here on out I will always represent my country and my fans the right way. Without the fans, we're nothin'. I assure all my fans I will always leave it all in the ring.
