O’Shaquie Foster W12 Emanuel Navarrete ... In a star-making performance, O’Shaquie Foster (26-3, 12 KOs) won a three-belt unification showdown vs. Emanuel Navarrete (40-3-1, 33 KOs) at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. Foster is now considered the best junior lightweight in the world. He consistently outboxed Navarrete, a three-division champion over the first eleven rounds to unify the WBO, IBF and WBC titles. In round twelve, Navarrete came forward aggressively, knowing he needed a knockout to win, and Foster made him pay, scoring two knockdowns to clinch the decision. Official scores were 115-111 and 118-108 (twice). The performance was so good that Foster deserves consideration for the pound-for-pound top ten and even fighter of the year given most of the other top boxers' inactivity. The only remaining junior lightweight belt that does not belong to Foster is the WBA version, which is presently owned by Great Britain's Anthony Cacace, who will soon defend against ex-featherweight champ Nick Ball. Hopefully Foster gets the Cacace-Ball winner in a bout for the undisputed world championship.
