Forrest stops Garcia

By Wyatt Johnston

At the Pechanga Resort & Casino, in Temecula, California, former world welterweight champion Vernon Forrest scored a tenth round stoppage against Elco Garcia.  Forrest landed his straight right and other big punches throughout the fight and finally put the sturdy Garcia down in round ten with a left hook.  This was the second win of Forrest's comeback after two losses to Ricardo Mayorga. He  improves to 37-2 while Garcia falls to 18-4. Earlier on the show, Hector Camacho, Jr. was not impressive at all in an eight-round decision win over Nelson Estupinan.  Camacho was knocked down twice in the fight.  The first knockdown came towards the end of round one when Estupinan landed a right hand to Camachos chin and put him down, the second came in round three when a over hand right caught Camacho putting him down for a flash knockdown.  The rounds that Camacho won were clearly owned by him as he threw pretty good combinations.  Camacho hurt Estupinan in both of the last two rounds as Estupinan looked very tired. However, if Camacho wants to be a title holder in this sport, he will have to dedicate himself to boxing, because he was obviously very out of shape tonight.  Camacho got the unanimous decision by scores of 76-74 across the board, meaning he was credited with all six rounds in which he wasn't floored.  Camacho improves to 39-1-1 while Estupinan falls to 11-2. source: Fox Sports
