Former contender Enad Licina going through tough times

Former cruiserweight contender Enad Licina, a Serbian-born German, is having a very difficult time with life. Although translation from the German article in Der Bild is difficult, it appears that Licina, age 40, has been declared mentally incompetent and is headed for permanent residence in a psychiatric facility. Licina was judged to be a "danger to the general public" due to boxing-related brain injuries.  Photos showed a dejected Licina being led into the courtroom in handcuffs by four armored and helmeted guards. The legal proceedings involving Licina arose after an earlier release from prison in 2018. Shortly after being let out of the earlier prison stint, Licina attacked three people at a public pool. One of the victims was knocked out and hospitalized with a single punch. Licina has a boxing record of 31-4, ending with ten straight wins from 2012-2016. Licina lost a title shot to Steve Cunningham in 2011. He also lost to future champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez in 2009.
