Felix Sturm wins in Croatia

In a beautiful ancient Roman amphitheater in Pula, Croatia, Felix Sturm defeated Jorge Sendra by unanimous decision in a WBA middleweight eliminator. Sturm, Boxingtalk's #2 middleweight behind only Bernard Hopkins, won by scores of 118-110 (twice) and 119-109. His record is now 24-1, with the only loss to Oscar De La Hoya in a decision most felt went the wrong way. Sturm is hoping for a bout against Hopkins, but with the curtain getting close to dropping on Hopkins' Hall of Fame career, he might not get the chance. The real reason 6000 fans showed up in Crotia was Stipe Drews' homecoming. Fighting out of Germany, Boxingtalk's #12 light heavyweight made his first pro appearance in his native country. Matched against Argentina's Omar Eduardo Gonzalez, Drews was given all twelve rounds by each judge and his record is now 28-1. Also, Boxingtalk's #28 super middleweight, Dennis Inkin stopped Garardo Soria in four. source: Universum website
