Mar. 26: Fernando Vargas-Verno Phillips In Discussion

As Boxingtalk.com first reported over a week ago, former three division champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley will return to the ring, the welterweight division, and the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on February 19. Mosley will appear as the HBO televised co-feature to undisputed middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins manadatory defense against Howard Eastman. According to sources close to the situation, HBO is leaning toward former junior welterweight champ Diobelys Hurtado as Mosley's opponent. Rafael Pineda and Miguel Angel Gonzalez have also been mentioned as possibilities, but a brief conversation with Mosley last revealed that no opponent has officially been solidified. In other news, Boxingtalk has been informed Verno Phillips is under consideration and appears to be the frontrunner to face Fernando Vargas on HBO March 26.
