Fans invited to attend Solo Boxeo weigh in

Langel’s Pizza, 2833 Highway Ave. in Highland, Indiana will have a decidedly international flavor this Thursday night when fighters from Mexico, Columbia, Costa Rica, England and, of course the US, arrive for the official 6 p.m. weigh-ins for Friday night’s “Warriors” event.  Fans are invited to meet the boxers and win tickets to the internationally televised card from the Hudson-Campbell Sports Center in Gary, IN.

"June 8 is the start of a big boxing weekend," said Bob Arum, the Hall of Fame CEO of Top Rank. "Together with our friends at One In A Million Inc. we will start with a world elimination fight which features a very skilled boxer in undefeated Giovanni Segura of California. He is in tough with Daniel Reyes of Colombia. Also, we have a very hard punching boxer from Denver, Mike Alvarado, who has a pleasing style, which I think all Indiana fight fans will enjoy.

"This will be a prelude to one of the biggest boxing nights of the year. We go from Indiana to Madison Square Garden in New York where Miguel Cotto will take on Zab Judah on June 9 in a terrific fight which we are calling X-Plosive," Arum said. "It's a very exciting weekend and it all starts in Gary, Indiana."

“Northwest Indiana fight fans always show up in droves for the official One In A Million weigh-ins,” said Rodney Langel, owner of Langel’s Pizza.  “But for this Thursday’s event, I’m expecting an especially large turn out from the region’s loyal Latin fans who want to come out and meet the boxers, especially the Mexican warriors.  The whole world loves boxing…and pizza.”
