Fahprakorb Gets Off Canvas, Stops Clerino!

On December 15 in Pattaya, Thailand, Fahprakorb Rakkiatgym aka Fahprakorb Krathingdaenggym recovered from a first-round knockdown to stop southpaw Alvin Clerino of Paranaque City, Philippines. Rakkiatgym, rated #24 by Boxingtalk in the featherweight division, was dropped by a big right hand from Clerino in the opening session and then absorbed a bombardment that left him on shaky legs. But Fahprakorb came back strong in round two and knocked Clerino out of the fight with a very big left hand to the ribs. Fahprakorb, from Konkaen Province, is the Thai champ and a former WBF titlist at 118 pounds. He improved his record to 46-3 with 29 KOs. Clerino, managed by Johnny Elorde, dropped to 10-2 with 7 KOs. After the fight, Ekarat "Jimmy" Chaichotchuang, Fahprakorb’s manager, said the Thai is planning to make two defenses of his regional IBF featherweight title in 2005, first in Febuary with an unconfirmed opponent, and then in March with Bobby Pacquiao, the current super featherweight champ of the Philippines and the brother of world featherweight champion Manny Pacquaio. On the undercard, Fahsai Sakkreerin won a six-round decision over Georgio Ipoc aka Jun Magsipoc, Nuephayak Sakkreerin knocked out Ekasit Sith Sor Wor in the third and Denlumyai Vor Rungsimarom stopped Ekavit Sith Sor Wor in five.
