Exclusive Interview With Efe Ajagba

"I will knock Michael Wallisch out on April 27th!"

Greg Leon: Congrats on your March 9th victory over Amir Mansour. What did you think of your performance? Efe Ajagba: "I thought it was good. I learned a lot in the camp with my coach (Ronnie Shields), I trained hard to prepare for the fight to make it not such a big test for me. Everyday I train hard and it was a good performance, I got the speed and everything right going into the fight, and after the fight I've been right back to the gym, I haven't taken any vacation I'm just working and getting ready for my next fight on April 27th."

GL: Was dealing with Mansour's southpaw stance easier than you expected?

Efe Ajagba: "I have a long range so I knew if I go to him with the jab it was going to be easy for me. It was easy for me because I train hard everyday, that's why."

GL: Were you surprised that you got him out of there in two rounds? Did you think he would be more durable?

EA: "I knew I was going to knock him out and I think he didn't want to be in there after the second round because he knew it was coming. He didn't come out for the third round because he was going to take too much punishment, he knew it was going to be awful."

GL: Now you're right back in the ring on April 27th versus Michael Wallisch (19-1 with 12 KOs).

EA: "Yes and I'm very excited about this. Like I said when the fight with Amir Mansour was over I went right back to the gym because they told me I was going to fight again right away. I can't wait to fight and I'm already prepared."

GL: How do you feel about making your Showtime debut in your tenth fight (9-0 with 8 KOs)?

EA: "It's going to be Showtime on Showtime. (laughs) It's going to be a showtime alright, it's very good though I'm happy to be on the card."

GL: What do you know about Michael Wallisch?

EA: "I've watched a lot of his fight and I'm going to come forward behind my jab, I don't know how to explain it, but when I saw the video I know I'm going to knock him out. Michael Wallisch is tall, he's 6'4, I'm 6'6 and his height is not going to do anything with me. The people he's fought aren't very good to me because when somebody steps into the ring with me everything is going to feel different because of my boxing skills, my speed and my power. I know exactly what I'm going to do in the ring."

GL: Christian Hammer got rid of this guy in the fifth round. Do you plan to do it sooner?

EA: "Yes, of course. I watched the fight and I don't know what happened in that fight, I don't know why he didn't keep fighting, he just gave up against Christian Hammer. Christian Hammer is not a good fighter, but for me Michael Wallisch is going to get knocked out, I have powerful punches and I've been training everyday so I don't think he's going to take my punches on April 27th."

GL: This is your first ten-round fight, but I guess that doesn't matter if they're not lasting four rounds.

EA: (laughs) "It's going to be a fun experience for me the first time I have to go twelve rounds, but I don't think this fight will go ten rounds. I don't know what round I'm going to knock him out in, but I'm going to knock him out."

GL: Closing thoughts.

EA: "I want to thank everyone, I appreciate and love all of the fans."
