JA: I recently talked to Dan Goosen and he told me that Andre Ward will not be fighting on the Roy Jones Jr. under card. What can you tell us about the injury? "Well he sustained a thumb injury in his last fight, it wasn’t extremely serious but we been monitoring the thumb and we thought that it would be best for the thumb to get fully healed if he didn’t fight on July 29th."
JA: Have you stopped training at all because of the thumb injury?
VH: We have modified training; there are a variety of things that we have done so we didn’t have to stop training. The intensity has remained the same throughout training, everything has been really upbeat.
JA: What have some of the things that you and Andre been working on in the gym?
VH: I think that the best thing is to work off the victory that we had in our last fight, I think that all the good things that he did we will be working off of that and all the things that he needs to be working on we will be working on that.
JA: If you were going to give him a grade for his last fight what grade would you give it?
VH: On breaking him down, working him down and using his punches well against a tough south paw, I think that I would have to rank that right up there with an A. Whenever you stop a guy and he can’t continue that is better than knocking him out, we knew that the guy couldn’t continue. Andre took control of the fight and the way that he knew what was going on in the ring, no matter where he was in the ring he had complete control and that is what I am mostly proud of.
JA: Have you spoken with
VH: We haven’t spoken to
JA: I understand that there is a date open for August 19th, is that the date that you are shooting for?
Â
VH: August 19th is the date that we are shooting for. We hope to be on schedule for that date but we are acting and preparing like we will be fighting on that date.
JA: Is there anything that you would like to say to all of Andre’s fans?
VH: Thank you for supporting Andre, keep looking forward to better things to come. His destiny will come about and it will manifest.
