Mayweather advisor says PBF making $8,000,001 for Baldomir!

GL: Since Boxingtalk.com broke the news of Mayweather-Baldomir for November 4 last Friday you became unusually difficult to reach. Now that the fight has been officially announced and I have you on the record, can you give us some thoughts on the Mayweather-Baldomir fight? "We are very excited to get the Baldomir fight done .  I've said all along Floyd would be in a very big fight come November 4th and here we are."

GL: Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley and Ricky Hatton were the primary options before guys like Baldomir, Spinks and Margarito became possibilities, correct?

LE:  That's correct Greg, as everyone is aware Oscar decided he's not fighting the rest of the year, Shane Mosely wants no part of Floyd, and Ricky Hatton asked for a ridiculous eight figure purse and the boogeyman has yet to fight or beat a quality opponent.

GL: If you believe Shane Mosley doesn't want to be in the same zip code as Floyd, does that mean Mosley is no longer an option after November 4? "

LE: Of course he's always a option.  I think Shane is a great fighter and he's been in some very big fights but when it comes to fighting Floyd he always has some type of excuse whether it be his tooth,  a family vacation he's been planning, it's always something.  He wanted to fight Baldomir in January and now that's no longer possible we'll see what his next excuse will be.  The fans are the one's that are getting cheated from witnessing a great fight."

GL: For a moment it appeared that Cory Spinks was going to be the guy, IBF President Marian Muhammad even confirmed to Boxingtalk that they had sanctioned the fight and then the scenery suddenly changed from Spinks to Baldomir, is there a reson for that?

LE:  There were legal issues that prevented us from making the Spinks fight at this time, he will get his opportunity just like everyone else.  Being the linear champion at three different weight classes simultaneously and being mentioned with the likes of the great Henry Armstrong is definitely a goal of Floyd's.

GL: Bob Arum's $8M offer for Mayweather to fight Margarito has been well documented. Will Floyd make more than that to fight Carlos Baldomir?

LE:  Yes, one dollar more is in the contract.

GL: So Floyd will be making $8,000,001 for Baldomir?

LE: That is correct

GL: Do you think Baldomir is a tougher fight for Floyd than Margarito or Cory Spinks?

LE:   Most definitely.  Carlos is a big, tough hard-nosed veteran fighter who hasn't lost in 8 yrs.  He's coming into the fight with Floyd with a great deal of confidence after beating Judah and Gatti in both of their backyards.  We know he's coming to Vegas to attempt to knock Floyd off his throne, but we have other plans for him.  This is the fight the fans wanted because he's the linear champ at 147 and its going to be very exciting from start to finish.

GL: Spinks manager Kevin Cunningham told Boxingtalk.com that instead of proving that he is the best at 154 on down, Floyd ducked Cory to move in another direction. How do you respond to that?

LE:  Why would Floyd duck Corey, that doesn't make any sense.  Corey is a very good fighter, but when he gets his opportunity he'll get humbled quickly and understand fighting Floyd is totally different from anything he's faced.

GL: When will there be a press conference to officially announce the Baldomir fight?

LE:  Dan will be coming out with an annoucement very soon.

GL: Will Roger be able to work Floyd's corner for the Baldomir fight?

LE: No, Roger won't be elgible to be work Floyd's corner until April 07.

GL: Does Margarito have to beat someone Team Mayweather considers a marquee name before that fight really becomes a seriously possibility for Floyd?

LE:  Yes , because other than a couple of internet writers and some hardcore boxing fans, don't anyone know who he is. We're trying to make fights that all the fans want to see.  Beating the likes of Manny Gomez, Kermit Cintron, Sebastin Lejuan, and Hercules Kyvoles don't qualify you to fight the best fighter in the world.. I think he's a solid fighter and once he beats someone of some significance we will consider making him an offer.   He has to go out and prove to the fans he can do that first, instead of talking about it.  In his very last fight with Manny Gomez he did about 40,000 homes so that speaks volumes on what he brings to the table.  He could fight his stablemate (Cotto) for starters since he's moving to welterweight after his debut.

GL: What are your thoughts on Bob Arum saying that Mayweather is fighting Baldomir instead of Margarito because you guys think Baldomir is an easier fight?

LE: Bob is a great promoter and has been for over 30 years.  I have a great deal of respect for his success in this business.  Is this the same Bob that said, "Floyd is the greatest fighter he's seen since Ali in the last 30 years? or the Bob that said "Cotto would run Floyd out of the gym?  Bob's job is to make Margarito look like he's the boogeyman or the most feared fighter out there.  He's done a wonderful job of that thus far, now Margarito just has to go out beat quality opposition.  Baldomir has beaten better opposition in the last 8 months than Margarito has in his whole career.

GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

LE:  We are really excited to be working with Dan and his staff again and come November 4 this is going to be a great fight for the fans.
