Exclusive Interview: Jaidon Codrington

JA: Jaidon I know that you didn’t fight the other night, tell us in your mind why you think this is a blessing in disguise? "You know things happen for a reason and maybe it wasn’t meant to be for me to fight. I think that this will all work out in the long run."

JA: Was it hard for them to find an opponent for you Jaidon?

JC: Well I fight at such a high level and I want to fight only tough guys. A lot of people don’t want to fight be that stepping stone, so yeah it really is hard to find a fight. At the same time you cant expect to fight the champion of the world in your first fight back.

JA: I know I talked with you last week and you were a little bit down that you were not fighting. How are you feeling now?

JC: I was always cool but I was disappointed that I didn’t get the chance to fight. As far as my confidence goes it’s a little down because of all the hard work that I put in and I didn’t get to fight. I have been training for three fights now and none of them came to fruition. People don’t know how I feel because I prepared, I put in my work with sparring, running all for three months and to not fight.

JA: Are you looking to get on the next Dibella Broadway card?

JC: Yeah most definitely. I am just going to wait till things die down a little bit because I know that he has the Winky Wright-Jermain Taylor fight coming up in June. So I might be on Dibella’s next Broadway card in July.

JA: Throw some names out there that you would like to fight right now?

JC:  In due time I would like to get in the ring with guys like Peter Manfredo and Joey Spina, even a guy like Omar Sheika but I am going to take it one step at a time.

JA: How many more fights do you think you need before you can step back in the ring against a quality opponent like an Allan Greene?

JC: Maybe two or three. I am not like a guy who got beat up for two rounds and the guy stopped the fight on me. I got caught early and my confidence is still sky high. I am not looking to take anything away from anybody, all I am looking to do is get back in the ring and show my skills.

JA: Is one of your motivations is to prove people wrong?

JC: Not really because I don’t care what people think. I get my motivation by striving to be the best fighter in the world.

JA: Talk to your fans out there Jaidon.

JC: Everybody knows that I been missing in action but that doesn’t mean that I been missing from the sport. Stay tuned for Jaidon Codrington because I am training hard ready to get back up to the level of competition that I was in my last fight.
