Exclusive Interview: Carlos Baldomir

JA: Only a couple of more days before your big clash with Arturo Gatti, tell us how training camp went for the fight? "Training camp went great. I didn’t do anything drastic in this training camp compared to the other training camps that I had in the past. The sparring was great, I am 100 % focused for the fight on Saturday night."

JA: Going into your fight with Zab Judah you were the underdog. Being the champion how does is it different?

CB: Every fight presents different challenges but this time I am going into this fight as the champion, so I have to protect what is rightfully mine.

JA: A lot of people may not be taking you serious as a champion with your win over Zab Judah.  Does that give you extra motivation to prove the critics wrong?

CB: I always think that the champion always puts everything on the table. I am the champion and there is always pressure for me. Gati has nothing to lose.

JA: What has the response been since you won the world championship?

CB: It was a good feeling. I always fought in Europe, but to fight in the United States was real special for me.  Now that I am champion of the world it has changed my life in some ways, yes.

JA: What do you think of Arturo Gatti as a fighter and what is your prediction for the fight?

CB: Arturo is a good fighter and I think that I will see the best of him Saturday night. I am prepared to go 12 hard rounds. I know that I will see the boxing version of Arturo Gatti but it wont matter because I am prepared to win.

JA: Do you think that the fight will go the distance?

CB: There is a good chance the fight will not go the distance because he has been in some wars and he has been knocked out before so I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it happened again.

JA: If you get past Arturo, who would you like to fight next?

CB: I would love to fight the premier fighters in the 147 pound division to prove that I am the best fighter in the division. Before I think of fighting other fighters in the division, I first need to get by Arturo Gatti.

JA: What can we expect to see from Carlos Baldomir this Saturday night?

CB: I am going to throw as many punches in each round that I can. Your going to see the best Carlos Baldomir. I am focused like I was for the Zab Judah fight and I am eager to get in the ring and show the world my true talents.

JA: Is there anything that you would like to say in closing to your fans out there on Boxingtalk.com?

CB: I would like to tell them thanks for all the support since my big win over Zab Judah. I am looking forward to the fight on Saturday night against Arturo Gatti, Arturo is a great fighter but my hand will be raised at the end of the night.
